Flooring Installation Tips
We follow the standard installation conventions established by the National Oak Flooring Manufacturers Association. Call or e-mail for more information.
In a nutshell, we recommend solid wood installed on above grade floors over sub-floors of plywood, OSB or solid wood. Concrete slabs require a nail-able surface, either inlaid screeds or plywood overlay. We've had great success with in-floor heating systems, they provide an even low heat to a space which is much better for solid wood than the dramatic temperature/humidity fluctuations of wood stoves.
We highly recommend using a professional installer to put in your new floor, their years of experience can be extremely beneficial in order to make sure you order the proper quantity of material and all of the accessories that are needed before installation begins. Feel free to contact us for references to high quality professional installers in your area.
