Butcher Block Styles
Furniture Quality Lumber
We sort out and use thicker, longer lumber to make our heirloom furniture quality butcher block. not the narrow and short leftovers that you get from factory made wood countertops. Fewer seams, less busy, designed and built to last forever.
Side Grain :: extra long strip
The harder edge of the plank becomes the surface of this traditional countertop. We don't use leftover lumber, so no short "fingerjointed" pieces or thinner remnants. Full length, thicker furniture grade lumber, hand sorted to balance color, grain and figure across the surface for an even look.
End Grain :: checkered block
The hardest orientation of wood is the direction the tree grows, straight up. Classic Butcher Block is designed for chopping on, allowing the fibers of the wood to spread along the knife edge and re-seal. The checkered block looks great as a thick slab.
Wide Plank style
Flat plank face up is not the hardest orientation of the wood but it does provide more of a furniture- kitchen table style look to wood surfaces. A great style to choose when you want an Antique Distressed look.

Natural Oil + Wax Treatment
Our food grade, matte penetrating oil & beeswax treatment. Cutting board quality, two stage finishing process designed for chopping blocks and wood cutting surfaces. Periodic oiling maintains the glow and depth of the natural wood. We provide a bottle of oil free with each order.
SatinSeal for wet areas
Our ultra-tough surface finish provides a thin, satin look and feel with commercial durability. Perfect for areas that are regularly exposed to moisture. Resists alcohol, cleaners, bleach & solvents. Food prep safe but not designed for cutting boards. Always looks great, no re-application required.
Unfinished cabinet shop blank
Our pro cabinet shop customers often prefer an over-sized countertop blank that can be cut and finished on site when final dimensions just aren't available until the cabinets are set. Definitely requires the proper tools and skill to do it right. When we send a butcher block out unfinished, we cannot warranty it.
DOUGLAS FIR
A brilliant, honey colored amber wood that is such a classic part of the "Northwest" look. Flooring and trim have always been a great application for clear Fir, but it really makes a great counter surface. Side grain to capture the look and feel of the long length, uniform style of the wood, or apply it as end grain to use its hardest surface orientation and show off its distinctive rings.
EcoStatus
West Coast Native (ask about LEED & FSC credits). Best color and quality comes from Northern California to Southern Oregon.
